Viktor Ilievski, Philosophy PhD Candidate, traveled to Tbilisi in May as the third doctoral student to give an intensive class at one of our partner institutions. While there he was hosted by Professor Tina Dolidze, Head of Department at the Institute of Classical, Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies, Tbilisi State University.

Sara Nur Yıldız, Orient-Institut Istanbul traveled to Tbilisi during November 7-18, 2011 where she was hosted by Professor Rismag Gordeziani, Director of the Institute of Classical, Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies and Professor Tina Dolidze, likewise of the Institute of Classical, Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies.

Judith Rasson, Assistant Professor at the Department of Medieval Studies, CEU traveled to Tbilisi during 5 – 18 November 2011. While there she gave a series of lectures on "Academic Writing for Byzantinists"  and was hosted by Professor Tina Dolidze from the Institute of Classical, Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies and participant of our CEU HESP project.

First CEMS Field trip takes students and faculty to Istanbul, Turkey

Between 17-22 June 2011, the CEMS organised its first field trip which saw 25 Junior and Senior Members as well as a number of invited guests of the center exploring the extraordinary rich Late Antique, Byzantine and Ottoman heritage of Istanbul, Turkey.

CEMS hosts 2011 Princeton University Global Seminar Budapest/Istanbul

From 13 to 17 June 2011, the CEMS hosted a group of fifteen students from Princeton and Kadir Has Universities who, under the direction of Professors Erika H. Gilson and Sukru Hanioglu, spent one week at the CEU, doing classes on Ottoman civilisation and language, and visiting Budapest and Eger as part of the 2011 Princeton University Global Seminar Budapest/Istanbul.
